We had a long winter this year in South Dakota so I decided to create this list! Hope you enjoy!
- You look forward to the State Fair in Huron!
- Your look forward to going to Sioux Falls for a shopping trip!
- You don’t even get excited about school being cancelled because of snow; after all, what else is new!
- When someone talks about the “River” you know they are talking about the Missouri!
- You consider yourself being from either East or West River!
- A Homecoming parade to you consists of 12 tricycles, 6 fire trucks, 14 tractors and a bunch of cars with politicians riding in them!
- When you pronounce “South Dakota” it takes 10 seconds to finish!
- You still think Bill Janklow is the Governor of the State!
- You can only spray your yard two times a year because the wind always blows!
- You live in a town that doesn’t have a stoplight!
- You think a traffic jam is having to wait at a stop sign for traffic!
- You assume that all high schools only have 32 seniors!
- The closest thing to “Meals on Wheels” is your going down to the town café 3 times a day!
- You look forward to receiving junk mail!
- You don’t need a computer; your aunt has one you can use!
- There’s a reason for celebrating graduating from Kindergarten, after all you spent four of your best years in that class!
- You aren’t shocked when you finally get your driver’s license; after all, you’re probably been driving for 10 years!
- You wouldn’t think about sassing a teacher, after all, you are probably related to her!
- You are afraid to ask a classmate out on a date because of the likelihood of their being your second cousin!
- Your goal in life is to win the South Dakota Lottery!
- You think the Washington Pavilion is a picnic shelter house in DC.
- You’ve never been to New York nor really care to go!
- You have always dreamed of moving to the big city of Aberdeen!
- You probably have a relative living at the State Penitentiary!
- You go to the Sioux Falls Zoo to look at cows and goats!
- When you think “Out East” you think first of Illinois!
- An authentic Mexican restaurant to you is Taco Belle!
- You drive 65 miles to a grocery store for a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk!
- Going out for dinner means having to drive out of town!
- You look forward to attending garage sales so you have something to do on a Saturday!
- There are more pickups in SD than drivers!
- Every pickup has a gun rack!
- You going hunting even if you don’t own your own gun!
- A tailgate party to you means your dog got his tail caught in the gate coming in from the pasture!
- Finishing your education means getting your GED!
- You don’t think you have an accent like everyone else in the country!
- You think a shrink is what happens after you go to the Laundromat!!
- You have at least one relative living in Sioux Falls!
- You know about the annual Kingswood Rummage sale and book a hotel and come to Sioux Falls once a year for this annual event!
- You know many people with the name of Robert Johnson and at least three of them are in your immediate family!
- You wouldn’t consider living in Iowa when you have it so good in South Dakota!
